  SAMPLE EXTRACT

"Our experience as language trainers has shown us that the biggest boost to communicating effectively is in the correct use of VERBS - And in particular "MODAL" and "AUXILIARY" verbs.

Hey - don't switch off!

Yes, we know the word "VERBS" is a turn-off and MODAL and AUXILIARY sound even worse! But we PROMISE what follows is quite painless and is the KEY for you to say a lot in French with a minimum of effort

Again - we've done most of the work for you.

Verbs are ACTION words - pretty well every sentence we say has a
verb in it and most sentences have modal or auxiliary verbs too
which - as their names imply - MODIFY and HELP the meaning so that
you can:

SAY A LOT MORE THINGS WITH JUST A FEW MORE WORDS

Here's a reminder of the mini pronunciation guide we gave you in your program.

Pronunciation guide: 1. “ONG” sounds like the “ONG” in “TONG” - only you don’t hear the “NG” - it is left rather in the air. Same goes for “UNG” and “ANG” 2. “ZH” in the sounds “ZHE” and “ZHO” sound like the “S” in “TREASURE

Look at this English sentence and its French equivalent ...

ENGLISH - FRENCH - PRONUNCIATION - stress the underlined bits
I SPEAK FRENCH
- JE PARLE FRANCAIS - ZHE PARL FRONSAY

OK - so it's a statement just saying that you speak French and you
need to learn three words to say it - so what?.
But look at how you can:

MODIFY the meaning of HOW something happens by adding a MODAL VERB

I MUST SPEAK FRENCH - JE DOIS PARLER FRANCAIS
-
ZHE DWAH PARLAY FRONSAY
I CAN SPEAK FRENCH
- JE PEUX PARLER FRANCAIS
- ZHE PER PARLAY FRONSAY

I WANT TO SPEAK FRENCH
- JE VEUX PARLER FRANCAIS - ZHE VER PARLAY FRONSAY
I KNOW HOW TO SPEAK FRENCH
- JE SAIS PARLER FRANCAIS - ZHE SAY PARLAY FRONSAY

You are saying completely different things by just adding these words and it looks even easier to say it in French than it does in English!

If you learn MUST, CAN, WANT TO, KNOW HOW TO in French and if you learn - say - just a DOZEN what we call MAIN VERBS like TO SPEAK ... then you will be able to say HUNDREDS of things.

Here are 12 MAIN VERBS for you to learn and when you have learned them ....

TO GO - ALLER - ALLEY
TO COME - VENIR - VEN-EAR
TO BE
- ETRE - AY-TRER
TO HAVE
- AVOIR - AV-WIRE
